Setting display quality

Display quality refers to the three different ways Expression Design can show your objects on a page. Changing the display quality setting does not affect your final output, but can aid in navigating your document and selecting paths. For example, if you have very complex paths, using a lower display quality can speed up screen redraw on a slower computer.

By default, Expression Design displays your artwork in Preview mode, reflecting what you would get when you export or print your file. However, if you click Display Quality under the View menu, and then click Wireframe (or press Ctrl+Y), Expression Design displays the skeleton of each path plus the outlines of shapes. Bitmapped images and brush strokes based on bitmapped images still appear in Wireframe mode. To switch out of this mode, click Preview in the View submenu (or pressing Ctrl+Y).

You can also control your document's display quality on a layer-by-layer basis. For more information, see Layer settings. The layer controls offer a third, even simpler display quality option: Path. This option displays only the skeletons of paths -- the center lines and curves on which a stroke is built -- ignoring both vector and image brush stroke outlines.

The three basic display quality settings are Path (top), Wireframe (middle), and Preview (bottom)
